What happens while my pet is in Quarantine in Singapore?
First of all, please take note that Quarantine of your pets as required by the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) can ONLY be done at AVA's approved facility at
Sembawang Animal Quarantine Station (SAQS)
10 Lorong Chencharu S769197,
Contact Number: +65 6482 2724.
Depending on where your pet is coming from, your pet may or may need to be quarantined.
Quarantine could be from a minimum of 10 days to 30 days.
SAQS provides a range of accommodation and facilities to enable your pet's stay to be as comfortable as possible, including:
Kennels (4.3m x 1.8m x 2.14m) comprising an indoor room and an outdoor run
Cattery rooms (1.7m x 1.2m x 2m)
A choice of air conditioned or non-air conditioned (fan-fitted) rooms
The following is a list of answers for questions that our clients have had for us in the past
Your pet can be visited and taken out to the exercise fields to run about by your approved proxy. While photography is generally not allowed, we can sneakily get some footage of them for you.
The indoor room and outdoor run as mentioned above are of roughly the same size. (You should divide 4.3m by 2 to gauge the size of the room)
AVA staff will NOT purchase or cook food for your dog. Storage of frozen/chilled food is also not available. While Atlas Source can have freshly prepared food sent down to your dog, please take note that visitations are not allowed on public holidays and Sundays.
Unless otherwise instructed, pets are fed twice a day and according to their weight. Food is provided. It would seem that the brand of food changes.
If your pet falls sick, the quarantine staff will update us and an outcall vet can be arranged to check up on your pet.
AVA staff will feed medication/supplements/vitamins according to your specifications. It is best to provide clear instructions on how to prepare the medication.
Throughout the 10 or 30 days, AVA staff will NOT provide baths to your pet. Arrangements can be made for them to be bathed by our staff.
Only if your pet refuses to do their business "indoors", AVA staff will walk your dog in the exercise fields to relieve themselves. Otherwise, if unvisited, your pet will stay in their rooms and relieve themselves via the indoor room or the outdoor run (backyard).
If you have any further questions, feel free to direct them to us via email. We'd love to find them out for you and provide the information here for those who need them.
